How it all started.
Kevin - the owner
After more than 25 years in education, I began to think about what might come next. I knew it had to be something in the marine industry — I’ve loved boats and being on the water since I was a child. I’ve always been pretty handy and enjoy solving engineering-style problems, so when a friend asked if I could reupholster some seats for her dad’s old fishing boat, I jumped at the chance.
I dusted off the sewing skills my mom taught me years ago, watched a few videos for courage, bought a used industrial sewing machine, and gave it a try. It was the perfect challenge for my hands and my mind — and I loved it. The more I sewed, the more I wanted to learn.
Not long after, someone else asked if I could merge an old, beat-up cover with a new semi-custom one. That project is when I truly fell in love with canvas work. The precision it requires, the satisfaction of a clean, finished product — and, most of all, seeing the joy on a boat owner’s face — that’s what drives me every day.
